I've been thinking about a past observation whilst I do my weekly food shopping on foot. I once saw a young girl in the village of Bubugo, Uganda. She was wheeling a bicycle carrying two jerry cans filled with water. One of my first experiences in that village was to carry two of those jerry cans back from the borehole. They were really heavy. It was hard work for an essential resource.

Over the course of this academic year I've had to use personal protective equipment and take self tests to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Heat Exchange was a brand I created as an undergraduate at the University of Plymouth in 2005.
Despite having a viable concept and generating a lot of ideas, it just didn't come together for the deadline. The result wasn't effective. I defended it but I received critial feedback that was deserved. The experience stayed with me and was a catalyst for change. I returned to this project after graduating and reimagioned it.

It was one year ago that I made a decision to not attend a lecture in favour of getting checked for Coronavirus out of moral responsibility. I arrived back in the UK after visiting Hong Kong and unfortunately had flu symptoms several days later. At that time there was news of the virus in Wuhan, China. I'm still relieved I got a negative result but looking back I could never have anticipated the events that followed.
